The following experimental runs were made in 2018:

16th to 18th November 2018: Heidelberg Ion Therapy Centre

  • Experimental measurements with range calorimeter from 120 to 184.5 MeV/u using proton, Helium and Carbon beams.
  • Measurements during single shift on night of 16–17th November.
  • Simon Jolly, Raffaella Radogna and Laurent Kelleter present.

16th August 2018: MedAustron

  • Experimental measurements with range calorimeter from 120 to 184.5 MeV/u using Carbon beam.
  • Measurements during single shift on night of 15-16 August.
  • Laurent Kelleter and Loic Grevillot present.

23rd March 2018

  • Single module calorimeter measurements to support TUWien proton CT tracker.

22nd March 2018: MedAustron

  • Experimental measurements with range calorimeter from 62 to 252 MeV.
  • Measurements during single shift on night of 22-23 March.
  • Light output from scintillator recorded using ISDI sensor and Nikon DSLR.
  • Precision range measurements from 62 to 100 MeV.
  • Simon Jolly, Anastasia Basharina-Freshville, Laurent Kelleter and Ruben Saakyan present.

8th-9th March 2018: Birmingham

  • First experimental measurements of the UCL plastic scintillator range calorimeter.
  • Measurements at 28 and 36 MeV across 2 days.
  • Measurements made at 36 MeV include 1–5 mm perspex absorber.
  • Light output from scintillator recorded using ISDI sensor and Nikon DSLR.
  • Simon Jolly, Anastasia Basharina-Freshville, Laurent Kelleter and Ruben Saakyan present.

21st February 2018: Birmingham

  • First tests of fast treatment plan verification setup at Birmingham cyclotron.
  • Measurements at 28 MeV with data taken by Birmingham PRaVDA tracker module and UCL single module calorimeter.
  • Calorimeter data recorded from PMT waveforms by LeCroy scope.
  • Dan Walker, Simon Jolly, Anastasia Basharina-Freshville and Laurent Kelleter present.

Measurements of 2 and 3 mm scintillator sheets

  • Nuvia a.s. provided 2 mm and 3 mm PS scintillator sheets for the range calorimeter.
  • These sheets were all measured on arrival.
  • The sheets were then spray-painted black and remeasured.

Plan of Action for January–March 2018

  • Plan of action for range calorimeter experimental tests from January to March 2018.
  • List of tasks for all group members.
  • Diary of events and deadlines.
