Minutes for UCL Proton Beam Therapy Group Meetings, 11th December

Present

Joe Bateman, Sonia Escribano, Febian, Simon Jolly, Raffaella Radogna (via zoom)

Sonia Escribano

  • Made list on wiki for components inside peli case etc
  • We need 256 photodiodes
  • Do an inventory of all the photodiodes
  • Rev e boards on their way - small chance could test them before xmas
  • Potential to mount raspberry pi on lid
  • Have at least 2 raspberry pi's and mount them both in case they have any issues
  • Do same with usb 104 so effectively have two parallel machines - one external power supply should be fine
  • Need to test power supply for cmod board - whether can be powered by external power supply and fpga
  • Started inventory of all scintillator sheets
  • Will do same with boards and photodiodes
  • All gui versions on github
  • Have a meeting to discuss 2025 experimental plan

Joe Bateman

  • TOPAS installed and working on Plus1 using Geant4 CVMFS installation.
  • Simulating pb1 from UCLH run33 (SOBP) on TOPAS (over batch farm) and FRED (ran locally) to compare range and beam sizes (at 1cm and r80)
  • Full 34 pb 3D dose reconstruction of UCLH run33 in FRED using CMOS size, position, intensity and QuARC energies.
    • Simulation does not result in smooth SOBP plateau - assuming it's due to CMOS intensity measurements
  • Will run a comparative FRED simulation using intensities from DICOM instead and another using all parameters from DICOM

Febian

  • Presented further updates to ZMOD daughter board #2
  • On fpga - looking at using external files for fpga fitting
  • Have to hardcode data in to fpga
  • Time analysis - implementing linear regression fitting on fpga - limited resources for data disk space and fitting
