Minutes for UCL Proton Calorimetry Meeting, 3rd October 2018 (D17, Physics & Astronomy, UCL)

Everybody introduced themselves.

MH:

• Report due in on 30th November: not sure what the topic is...
• Been running simulations in GATE:
  • Trying to avoid 40-day simulation through GATE.
  • Rebuilding in GEANT4 directly: rudimentary simulation working!
  • Checking Catphan and Spiral phantoms.
• To Do:
  • Writing an analysis class to write output data from Geant4 simulations to file.
  • Start writing report (on a topic to be determined...).
  • Find out what timetable is over the next 6 months.

SS:

• Managed to get GUI for tracking reconstruction working in Eclipse!
• To Do:
  • Literature review due in 22nd October.

OM:

• To Do:
  • Get started on HEP linux cluster.
  • Write Literature review.

JO:

• To Do:
  • Attend lectures! 6 modules: HEP all day Monday and Tuesday.
  • Need to select optional modules.
  • Meeting arranged with Jamie McClelland and Adam Gibson on 18th October.

RR:

• To Do:
  • Understand detector operation from LK.
  • Contact Marina Fuentes Sainz and Vassilios Albanis to explore commercialisation.
  • Set up plus1 account.

LK:

• To Do:
  • Finish off build-up simulations: will contact Adam Gibson.
  • Analyse carbon data from MedAustron.
  • Prepare for HIT Helium tests.
  • Teach RR as much as possible...
