Minutes for UCL Proton Calorimetry Meetings, 9th December
Present
Simon Jolly, Saad Shaikh

- Consolidated UCLH analysis with latest (corrected) plots into two presentations: 15th April experiment and 2nd Nov experiment.
- Will update links to these in previous meeting minutes etc.
- Correcting PDL normalisation in comparisons found that photodiodes match up very well with CMOS sensor in April experiment.
- Coupled with no change in fit results with CMOS sensor photodiode approximation fits, photodiodes appear to see enough light to give good results.
- Ran fit replays for all runs in April and November experiments.
- In November experiment, only Run 16 gave unphysical results, likely due to low light levels.
- Will investigate if parameter limits can fix this.
- Literature value of Birks' constant summarised in table 2.2 of Laurent's thesis – values vary greatly and are very specific to material itself.
- Will perform fits to Nikon data to see if Birks' value is consistent.
- Delivered presentation at FRPT 2021, slides available here.
- Naoki presented first results with hardware implementation of fitting function, slides available here.
- Will download and test software version of code that performs fit without ROOT.
- Will deliver Christmas Talk on 20th December for HEP Group Day.
